Lessons From A Pandemic

Pandemic was a tough time for many but there are numbers of lessons that can be learned. These lessons can vary from 'perosnal', 'communal', 'institutional', and 'governmental levels' just to name a few.

It's important to highlight and act upon these lessons because these lessons give us valuable practical steps for a next global pandemic, which is gonna happen for sure and that is practical.

Pandemics are a stressful time and having these practical steps can reduce anxiety and stress in hard situation.

Here are few lessons that I've learned and observerd during the hard days of the Pandemic.

1) Drills For Public And Health Care Service Provider

One of the most tragic cause of loss of life during the pandemic was the sheer 'unpreparedness' shown from health care providers and common folks.

In this atmosphere, it's essential to hold large Public events that enageg and teach the health care providers and common folks to be prepared, what to do and what not to do in the event of any unforseen situation.

2) Stress Management

In any unfortunate event, news or even during general lockdowns can take a toll on you're mental health and physical health. It's important to know how to manage your stress regardless of a pandemic or no pandemic.

Get yourself started with yoga, exercise or take a session on stress management today. This will improve you're outlook during the next pandemic.

Periodic exercise can regulate one's mood and psychological problems, it forces you to exit your common surroundings and walk to a gym or a nearby walking path. This might help you to meet and come across new folks.

3) Keep You're News Media Cycle in Check

With advent of social media and news media competing for attention with sensational and partisan and coverage of news. This has already divided the public into two, inevitably helping fueling conspiracy theory and misinformation about any given topic.
This can be particularly distartous in event of a global pandemic because it spreads misinformation about the disease and creates uncertainty in the mind of common public.

During this pandemic, this has also eroded the trust of people on scientific and medical establishment, people don't trust and don't follow advises from scientific or medical organisations.

In all this one must regulate their news media, doubke check and fact check all important news that one comes across.
Set Limit or disable news media that you've noticed on social media platforms.

4) Every Country Is By Itself

Despite all the chants and talk of global organisation and global cooperation, in reality every country is on it's own.

For this reason, all countries that don't have a proper or fucationing should fix the system on War footing. This would help recruite new generation of health care professionals to help more people with less workload. All counties should establish reserves for Masks , PPE, and appropriate storage facilities for Vaccination.

Countries should start investing more in their health care system and empower service providers at the local levels for better scrutiny.

5) Trusting The Experts

Pandemic are caused by already known infectiious disease (or a virus) or a complete new infectious disease or a virus.
In both cases, common people and media that reports on the situation doesn't understand complexity of the virus, terminology or adivces/mandates, given this one understand that world of virology is complicated and can cause confusion or mis/disinformation about any aspect of a new disease/virus.

In this regard it's best to follow the experts and follow what advices or steps they give out to common folks, there can be a misjudgement on their regard but doesn't mean they don't know what they are talking about.

Countries should emphasis on 'trusting' these experts as a forerunner to actually saving lives.

Public should be regularly remembered that for public health providers saving lifes is the number one priority. Sometimes this urgency can cause a mistake or error in decision making process.

Public should carrer scientist and resechers that are responsible for public safety.

6) Work on Existing Vulnerabilities

All medical emergencies, diseases or a virus in human surroundings impact the weakest and financially downtrodden in the society. Countries on local and national level should make special arrangements for people with low income and weak immunity. Communities and Societies should act upon these people and enable them financially. There should be community centres for people with disabilities, mentally unstable or folks who are unemployed.

Women in developing world should be encouraged to work in these centres as this provides them with community and source of earning.

7) Enjoy The Intermediate Times

Life during the pandemic can be stressful,
harsh and difficult at best and at worst downright miserable. When life's at normal one can forget about the misery that the pandemic brings it with self.

From being sick to travel restrictions, one can forgo and forget about life during the pandemic. It is essential to remember so you can enjoy a 'intermediate' peirod. Do what makes you happy, make a hobby of your preference, talk and make freinds with new people, start travelling while there are no travel restrictions. Enjoy life to the fullest so you can have fall upon the memories when the inevitable happens.

8) Have Meaningful Relationships

Having meaningful relationships can lessen stress in hard times. These relationships can be with you're family members, co-workers, seniors/juniors, freinds or can be a online community/fourm.

This will improve you're mental health during harsh days of a pandemic and will take your mind off from all the buss and uncertainty that a pandemic generates.

Join a gym, a reading club or any activity that has active participation from members or participants. Make lifelong friendships with people that share your interests and make new experiences with them, you'll cherish these experiences when hard times come.

Next pandemic definitely bring hard time but it's upto you and your actions that will determine that you will be problem creator or a problem solver and only you can change fromer to later.
