How to Get a Grip on Life: Get Work Life Balance

Working has become a symbol of modern life, be it studying for you academics, doing a job to improve and maintain financial stability or taking care of yourself by performing excercises, work is all around us.

That being said, these days most people suffer from work life balance. Simply put, the meaning of work life balance is proper allocation of energies and effort an individual puts to complete a certain task/tasks.

These people cannot allocate proper amount of time and energy to get their certain done, which causes hectic lifestyle, stress, lack of satisfaction and low self esteem just to name few of the downfalls.
Above all these people run in constant presence and burn out, which toxifies their personal, professional and public lives.

This whole experience of not having a grip on your own life can make you feel lost internally, shake your confidence and you don't have any idea what to do next or how to do it.

Thus this shows the importance of work and life balance. Maintaining a well established work and life balance will help you improve your lifestyle automatically

There are multiple quotes that can help you to understand why work life balance is important, but to me this quotation has done more justice in covering the entirety of this topic like no other quotation has.

“Either you run the day, or the day
   runs you.”

  – Jim Rohn,
Motivational Speaker

Question arises how can one achieve work and life balance in this age, this blog will help you to get answer to this very important question.

Here are some of the things you can do to help your work life balance.

1) Think Hard You Take Part In Anything

Due to speed and efficiency that's demanded by our modern lives and socio economic systems that we live in, most of us think hard before taking part in anything that we consider would bring us prosperity.

This has been catastrophic for most people, as they do and follow things out of sociocultural pressures regardless of their own physical and mental capabilities. These kind of things makes a individual quit faster, demoralise them and makes them feel embarrassed in the eyes of their-self and others.

Decide every major life decision with a deep understanding with it's pro's and con's, of how capable and interested you are in doing that thing for a prolonged amount of time. Make a checklist beforehand of these demands that's the task at hand will require you to do, and thus this will avoid giving you short term misery and misfortune as your focus would be on long term results and stability.

Best advice for short term checklist is to make a 'five day list', listing all the things you'd like to get done.

Practising this principle has helped me put my life into order, has given my work related satisfaction and has enabled me to enjoy my free time. It has given oder to my routine and some assemblence of normalcy.

2) Personal Fiances Are More Important Than You Realize

Take a deep look where your money is being spent on, how much debt you own, take a note on irresponsible spendings. The best thing you can do is to make a budget for a month and divide it by four, I.e, divide it for each week.

As we all know and there's no need to elaborate on this that money problems can ruin lives, families and entire communities.
These problems create ill tempered individual who can resote to violence, thus becoming a threat to entire community.

Most people spent money on things that they don't really need, like jewellery or anything that's not of their immediate concern and these people live of borrowed money, often borrowed from family relatives or neighbours, thus making their own reputations badder.

Take a deep eye on what you're spending on for the first two weeks of the month, I.e, first fifteen days, saving during this will help you to be financially stable at the end of month, it'll also put you more responsibility and respectable person in your family and neighbourhood.

For me, taking a brief look at my money spending habit has turned me into a much more responsible individual.

3) Improve Communication For Better Relationships

Relationships are a important part of our lives be it perosnal, intimate or proffesional relationships. Take a hard at dynamics of relationships regardless of which place and capacity they're in.

Communication is the key when tackling relationship related problems. Improving communication is sure way to improving your relationships. Communication skills can be developed by listening carefully, understanding your own thoughts, thinking before you speak and how to get them across to other individuals. Apart from this work on your body gestures and confidence, try to be brief yet precise.

Importance of communication can be understood by these simple quotations

¹)   “When people talk, listen completely. Most people never listen.”

    - Ernest Hemingway

²) Words are singularly the most powerful force available to humanity. We can choose to use this force constructively with words of encouragement, or destructively using words of despair. Words have energy and power with the ability to help, to heal, to hinder, to hurt, to harm, to humiliate and to humble.

     - Yehuda Berg

Apart from communication, look for signs of past traumas and abuses that you might have experienced with one of your relationships.

Personally, I've worked with the technique called 'Self Mirror Talk', in which I talk in the out loud so that my thoughts can become more consise and organised.
Practicing this has given my confidence for public speaking and visibly improved my own body image.

If nothing works, get yourself booked with a certified and proffesional councillor or a therapist. Getting yourself counciled or going to the therapy will only have a positive impact on your life as it'll heal and unravel clutter that's occupying your mind.

Don't get frustrated by process or slow results that'll inevitably happen because therapy can be a long and difficult journey.
Trust your institution and professionalism of proffesional therapist.

4) Focus On A Single Thing

It is proven time and time again that multi tasking isn't good for your mind and body, as it puts additional pressure on your system.
There are numerous ways in which multitasking can have a serious negative impact on your physical body and mental health. Mentally, this practice causes breakdowns, excessive stress, sleeping problems. Physically it makes you literally weaker.

In addition to all this, continuing this practice can degrade the quality of your work and making you less productive as a result, it destroyed your natural ability to focus and is shown to cause long term memory related problems. It also negatively impacts your social life as with multiple tasks at hand, your far less likely to meet people.

No amount of explanations can help you understand the disadvantages of multitasking like this quotation.

"When we think we're multitasking we're actually multiswitching. That is what the brain is very good at doing - quickly diverting its attention from one place to the next. We think we're being productive. We are, indeed, being busy. But in reality we're simply giving ourselves extra work".

- Michael Harris

To counter all these negative impacts of multitasking, life coaches recommend a much focused approach with appropriate prioritisation. Priotrizing helps you know what to do first and what's important at a particular juncture of day.

Priotrizing can be through number of ways like noting down all the tasks that are to be done, giving and assigning value to each task, how much effort and time will be required to complete a certain task and setting boundaries on personal and professional front. By setting boundaries, I mean you should know when to call quits on a certain task without having a slither of shame beacuse you gave that task your everything.
I've made a notes on my mobile phone where I do checklist before the start of every week, I.e, on the weekends.

5) Make Time For Yourself

These people don't have any time for themselves, for their leisure, for their comfort, for their peace. This results in existential crisis, dispare, anger issues, stress, anxiety, frustration and depression.

Take out prefixed time for yourself from every day and do what gives you peace, happiness and joy. It can be from reading a book that you like, watching something you like on some social media platform on the internet, listening to a podcast or playing sports. This time will rejuvenate and reenergies you.

Find a freind group or a internet community like a subreddit or groups on Facebook or anyother social media platform and find like-minded individuals there. These communities will make your day better by giving you interaction with people that share your interests, hobbies.

For me, this free time is spent on waking among nature, this has given my solitude and made my overall health better.
